Q: In what cities of the the world can I search metro stations?
A: By default, Metro Seeker comes with New York City, London, San Francisco and Mexico City metro stations installed in its database. We are working hard to add more cities every day. If you'd like us to add your city's metro stations to the database, please send us a request by going to the 'Settings' screen, tapping on 'Contact Developer' and 'Request Feature'.
Q: Can I use Metro Seeker on my IPod Touch?
A: Yes, but the locations are limited to the ones in the database from the company that the IPod Touch gets the location information. This information is based on access point location.
Q: How do I find a metro station near my current location?
A: You just have to press the 'Find' button at the main screen. Your wireless or 3G have to be activated in order to get your location. You can specify the search radius at the 'Settings' screen, as well as the interval at which the GPS will try to get a location. The default radius is 500 meters and the default interval is 10 seconds.
When and if a metro station is found near your location, a small icon representing a train car will be displayed near the station on the map.
Q: How can I do panning of the map screen?
A: By sliding your finger through the screen.
Q: How do I zoom in/out?
A: Using the '+' and '-' buttons at the bottom of the screen.
Q: Why is it that when Metro Seeker displays my location, it sometimes draws a blue circle on the screen and sometimes it draws a an icon of a little person?
A: The blue circle means that your location data retrieved from the IPhone is somewhat inaccurate. The radius of the circle represents the error in accuracy from that data. When you see the person's icon, it means that the IPhone's data is more accurate.
Q: How can I return to my actual location after I've panned or zoomed the map?
A: There is a button with an image of the silhouette of the person's icon next to the zoom buttons, press it and your actual location will be displayed on the center of the map.
Q: Can I see the name of the metro station that Metro Seeker is showing me?
A: Just tap on the train car icon of the station that you are interested in and its name will appear at the bottom of the screen.
Q: What are the settings that I can change in Metro Seeker?
A: At the bottom right of the main screen there's an info button, press it in order to go to the 'Settings' screen. You will see a slider representing the 'Maximum station distance' or search radius, you can search metro stations from 100 meters to 70 kilometers of your current position.
The GPS interval slider represents the interval at which the GPS will try to get a location, from one second to every 60 seconds.
You can specify a map's image format. The jpg format isn't as heavy as the gif format, but image quality is better with gif.
You can also specify a map type. Roadmap, satellite or hybrid.
Q: How can I contact you if I have feature requests or want to report a bug?
A: Tap on 'Contact Developer' and you'll be able to request a feature, report a bug or go to this FAQ.
Q: How do I download more metro stations?
A: At the bottom right of the main screen there's an info button, press it in order to go to the 'Settings' screen. Click on the 'Updates' tab at the bottom right of the screen. Metro Seeker will check if there are any updates available, if there are, the name of the city you can download will be displayed and you can tap on it to download the city's stations to your IPhone.
Q: When I press the find button, a message that says 'Location Unavailable' appears. Why?
A: That message appears when the IPhone is unable to determine your location after about 30 seconds. You could try to move to an area where the 3G or wireless signal are better.
Q: Sometimes there's a black screen for a long time before a map is displayed. Why?
A: Networks are sometimes slow, so, it might be taking a long time for Metro Seeker to download the map images you are requesting.
